Have a story to tell? Good. ToriBOX is actively looking for bold, talented Nigerian and African storytellers who want to reach a global audience with vertical drama. Here's exactly what to do, from first idea to accepted series.
Step 1: Make Sure Your Concept Fits the Format
ToriBOX is specifically built for vertical drama in micro-episodes. Before you submit, make sure your concept fits these requirements:
- Each episode is 60โ90 seconds long โ no more, no less
- The story is filmed in vertical (9:16) format โ not landscape
- Every episode opens with a hook and ends on a cliffhanger or unresolved tension
- The series has a minimum of 20 episodes planned (most shows run 30โ60)
- Content is appropriate for a general African audience โ no explicit content
If your concept doesn't fit the format yet, don't worry. We provide production guidelines to all accepted creators and can advise during development.
Step 2: Prepare Your Submission Package
Your submission should include:
- Series logline โ one sentence describing your show
- Series synopsis โ 200โ400 words covering the premise, main characters, and overall arc
- Episode breakdown โ a list of your first 10 episodes with a 1โ2 sentence description of each
- Pilot episode โ a finished, produced 60โ90 second vertical episode (this is required for consideration)
- Creator bio โ your background, previous work, and links to any existing content
Submissions without a produced pilot episode will not be reviewed. We need to see that you can execute the format before we can make a decision. The pilot doesn't need to be perfect โ it needs to demonstrate storytelling ability and an understanding of the vertical format.
Step 3: Submit via Our Form
All submissions go through our content submission form. This takes about 15 minutes to complete. You'll be asked to upload your pilot episode and submission package documents.
Step 4: The Review Process
Every submission is reviewed by our editorial team within 14 business days. We look at:
- Story quality and originality
- Hook strength โ does the pilot make us want to watch episode 2?
- Production quality โ it doesn't need to be cinematic, but it needs to be watchable
- Format adherence โ is it genuinely vertical and episodic?
- Audience fit โ does it speak to the African diaspora and Nigerian audiences?
Whether we accept or decline your submission, you will receive written feedback. We respect the work that goes into every pitch and believe creators deserve to know why.
Step 5: If Accepted โ What Happens Next
If your show is accepted, you'll receive:
- A creator agreement outlining the 60% revenue share and payment terms
- Access to our creator dashboard
- A production brief with technical requirements for the full series
- A dedicated ToriBOX editorial contact for feedback during production
- A launch timeline and promotional support plan
We're not a passive distributor. When we accept a show, we're invested in its success. Your show's performance affects our platform, so we have every incentive to help you make it great.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need professional equipment?
No. Many successful vertical drama series are shot entirely on smartphones. What matters is the story, the lighting, and the sound. A modern iPhone or Android with a decent ring light and an external microphone can produce perfectly acceptable quality.
Can I submit if I'm based outside Nigeria?
Yes. We welcome submissions from creators anywhere in the world, as long as the content speaks to African and diaspora audiences.
Can I submit more than one show?
Yes, but please submit them separately and space them out. We give each submission our full attention.
